Lauded for her "solid singing, beautiful sense of phrase, and acting acumen," Ms. Lorini is enjoying a budding operatic career. This summer Ms. Lorini debuts with the Glimmerglass Festival as a member of the Young American Artist Program. Recent engagements include Cherubino/Le nozze di Figaro (Madison Opera), Julie/Carousel (Carnegie Performing Arts Center), Kate Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly (The Santa Fe Opera), Mercedes/Carmen and Dorabella Cover/Cosi fan tutte (Natchez Festival of Music), Olga/Merry Widow (Dayton Opera), and Tebaldo/Don Carlo (Undercroft Opera).
Emily Lorini holds awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2007 Winner Kentucky District), the Orpheus Vocal Competition (Bel Canto Award Winner), the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Lakes Region Opera. In addition, she has soloed with the Music in a Great Space Concert Series in Pittsburgh, PA and the Dalla Camera Recital Series in Oxford, OH.
A Pittsburgh native, Emily Lorini earned a B.A. in Communication from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from Miami University of Ohio. In addition, she has studied at the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca and the Salzburg Summer Chamber Music Institute, and has held apprenticeships with the Natchez Festival of Music, Dayton Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, and the Santa Fe Opera.
She and her husband, tenor Mateo Husted, make their home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
